What each platform meters on your monthly bill

The pricing meter decides your cost when message volume climbs. A platform that bills by seat or by conversation charges you more in the months when business is good.

Each competitor figure was read off the vendor's own public pricing page on 24 August 2026. Each comparison page links to its source. Trengo publishes in euros and we publish in US dollars, and we do not convert between currencies, so each price in this table stands in the currency its vendor charges.

How to spot a hidden conversation cap

A headline price can sit above usage ceilings written into the plan. Look for these six billing patterns before committing your team to an annual contract.

The big annual conversation pool

Trengo's Pro plan includes 18,000 conversations a year, read on 24 August 2026. Divided by twelve that is 1,500 a month. Work out your own monthly volume before you sign anything.

The rolling conversation window

Trengo's conversation counter resets after seven days, read on 24 August 2026, so a reply on day eight starts another billable conversation. Check the reset window in the contract you sign.

The separate AI seat surcharge

Intercom sells Copilot at $29 per agent a month and Zendesk sells its Copilot at $50 per agent a month, both read on 24 August 2026. Check whether an AI assistant costs extra on top of every licence.

The fee per resolved outcome

Intercom charges $0.99 per Fin resolution and Zendesk charges $1.50 to $2.00 per automated resolution, both read on 24 August 2026. A fee per closed thread makes a busy support month unpredictable.

Channel ceilings tied to plans

Front's Starter plan stops at 10 seats and one channel type, read on 24 August 2026. Check the channel and inbox ceiling on the tier you plan to buy, and what an upgrade costs per seat.

The markup on third-party channels

Front adds a 20% administration fee on top of Meta's WhatsApp bill, read on 24 August 2026. Verify whether messaging infrastructure carries a middleman markup.

Figures were checked on 24 August 2026; recheck before purchase. If your desk needs deflection bots or heavy workforce scheduling, we will tell you to buy them instead.
